Ever since I saw one on Wheeler-Dealers I’ve wanted one so very, very badly but the cost to actually get one into the States is probably staggeringly prohibitive. I guess I probably should get a first-gen Scirroco instead.

I’d go with a 33 with the 1.7
then put a supercharger on it...
and then once you’ve won enough races, and earned your sponsorship, you can put a Quaife sequential gearbox in it...
if you cram essentially that same driveline in an AlfaSud Sprint things get... interesting... if you consider constant front-end looseness, peppered with power-on-understeer and frightening-traction-wander “interesting”

Look up what a roll-on roll-off transport (RORO) would be. Usually not all that much. Not too long ago I got a quote for ~us$1500 from St Petersburg to NYC.
